WORKSHOP ON ACTING AND DIGITAL FILM MAKING FROM 17TH TO 27TH NOVEMBER 2010






“Movie Omania” Workshop on Acting and Digital film making.

International Film Fraternity of Oman(IFFO) conducting workshop on acting and total film making “Movie Omania” from 17to 27November 2010. Experienced hands in various aspects of film making and acting will conduct classes. Venue : Banquet Hall , Ananthapuri Restaurant, Darseit. A brief profile of Dr. Rajah Balakrishna




Rajah Balakrishna has a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Economics, Cost Accounting & Auditing), Master in Arts (Mass communication & Journalism) Dip in Film technology, acting and has a PhD in cinema (awarded for the thesis ‘Audience reaction & realization in Cinema’ – researched in 48 countries), Feature Film Producer Diploma, Certified Cinema Director & Line Producer Emeritus from Hollywood Film Institute. USA.

Have written articles and books on subjects connected with travels, poetry and filmmaking. He has more then thirty years of experience in Film making and has made many documentaries on Health, public awareness, education & cultural. He has travelled to parts of India, Gulf, the whole of Egypt, Algeria, Paris, Iran, Spain (Andalusia) and many other European & western countries. To do research, filming and writing on the historical sites and importance of the connections these places had with the Islamic World and comparing 13th/14th century with the present.
Consultant for many Film Festivals and Film schools in India & abroad.
Technical Director, Emirates Film Competition. (Annual program at the Cultural Foundation, Abu Dhabi) Technical consultant for Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
Presently employed as The Films Producer with Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage, UAE.

SANKAR VENKITESH


Sankar graduated from Thrissur School of Drama with a first rank (2002) and completed Theatre Training and Research Programme, Singapore (2006). In TTRP, he underwent practical immersions in traditional theatres of Asia, Stanislavskian/post-Stanislavskian acting methodologies, voice, speech, movement, theatre making, taiji, and technical theatre training. He founded Theatre Roots & Wings (2007) and is currently the artistic director. He is an actor, composer, director, producer and a dramaturg. His appearances in'Performing Women - Medea, Jocasta, Clytemenestra' - Dir. Abhilash Pillai New Delhi/Tokyo/Seoul 2007/2008, 'Singapore Beckett Project' - Dir. Philip B Zarrilli, Patricia Boyette, 2006, and compositions for Midnights Children Dir Abhilash Pillai New Delhi/Berlin 2005/2006, Main Istanbul Hoon Dir Mohan Maharshi, New Delhi 2008 are highly evaluated. Sankar teaches acting and theatre making at Theatre Professionals Pvt Ltd, Mumbai and was invited to Japan by Ku Na'uka theatre company, 2002. Acclaimed productions are: 2010 The Water Station, Ota Shogo, NINASAM theatre institute, Karnataka, 2009Urubahngam, Bhasa, Faculty of Arts, Shinshu University, Matsumoto Performing arts centre, Japan - Supported by The Japan Foundation. 2008 Sahyande Makan - The Elephant Project, ,Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon, Kerala – travel grant from Arts Network Asia, 2007 Quick Death, Richard Murphet.
